We raise funds to bring medical and educational resources to Francisco de Yojoa, Honduras.

San Franciscanos Unidos USA raises funds to give the support needed for children's education and to improve the health of the community of San Francisco de Yojoa. We are looking forward to expanding our help to other parts of Honduras soon.

Meet our team

We are a volunteer based team working towards helping struggling communities in Honduras. Founded December 2021.

Mrs. Fernandez and a group of natives from San Francisco de Yojoa, all living in the NYC area, decided to start a non-profit organization with the purpose of raising funds to help their beloved town, thus San Franciscanos Unidos USA was erected.

All our volunteers bring their unique expertise and resources into everything we do. This is what enables us to get closer to our goals of helping more communities in Honduras soon.

While there is always more to be done, there is no doubt that we are making a significant impact. We don’t measure our success through just facts and figures, but through happy faces and heartwarming feedback. See how you can become part of the difference!

KARLA

Karla Lastenia Sabillon, was born in the USA, with parents that were born in the municipality of San Francisco de Yojoa, Honduras. Although she was born and raised in NJ and NY, her parents traveled with her to Honduras since she was a baby to visit her parent's families in their native home towns. She has many dear memories of the past and has seen this municipality struggle and slowly develop in hopes to become more organized. There is still so much work to be done and so many basic services these towns lack to make it function more cohesively and there is still a massive financial need to accomplish these goals. Karla is proud to be part of this young organization in the USA, along with the current board members that have the best intentions to see this municipality flourish. Karla hopes that with your trust in San Franciscanos Unidos USA, you can also be a part of this change for the natives of those communities.

ELIZABETH

Elizabeth Madrid is the Social Media Coordinator of San Franciscanos Unidos USA Inc. She was born in Honduras but raised in the United States. Although she is employed full-time, she is happy to be one of the organization's volunteers since 2021. One of Elizabeth's passions is planning events because she can execute her visions for the event and pay close attention to details. She is creative, passionate, organized, and family oriented. She loves spending time with her family and always helping people in need.

MARTA

Marta Gonzalez-Sabillon has been a volunteer for San Franciscanos Unidos USA Inc. since 2021. She was born in San Francisco de Yojoa, Honduras. At the age of 12, she moved from her hometown to Brooklyn, New York. Marta enjoys spending most of her time with her friends and family no matter the occasion. Marta is a very fun, charismatic, loving person, with lots of energy, and she prides herself on being the life of any party. When she is not in the kitchen inventing some delicious recipes, you can find her outside taking pictures of the beautiful scenery and wildlife. While her past jobs have been in sales and customer service, Marta's favorite job is being a mother and a grandmother.

JOSE

Jose E. Baide was born in San Francisco de Yojoa, Honduras. He studied graphic design in Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes in the capital, Tegucigalpa. He migrated to the United states in 1993 and currently resides in Brooklyn, New York with his family.

SUYAPA

Suyapa was born and raised in the town of San Francisco de Yojoa, Honduras. Suyapa Fernandez has known the needs of her community. She completed elementary school in her native town, and had to move to Tegucigalpa, the capital of Honduras, to continue her secondary education. When she completed her secondary education she then moved to La Ceiba for her college education. Until finally, she moved to New York City where she established her life and still resides today.

RUBEN

Ruben Buzon was born in Montevideo, Uruguay. At 26, he migrated and established his life in New York City where he met his future wife, and Honduran native, Suyapa Fernandez. When visiting his wife’s country for the first time, Ruben was enamored with the culture and people and made various friends in the small town of San Francisco de Yojoa. In December 2021 when his wife among other San Franciscanos natives founded “San Franciscanos Unidos USA,” Ruben was quick to volunteer his time and efforts. Since the inception of the organization, Ruben has given his full support to missions and fundraising events.

Our inspiration

We are a community made to support the community. It all started with an idea by Mr. Leonardo Ulloa.

At the end of the 1980s, an organization was founded under the name of San Franciscanos Unidos in New York by Mr. Leonardo Ulloa with a team of many friends and family members. His purpose was to speed up the aid and the needs of the municipality of San Francisco de Yojoa- needs such as health, education and the development of the community.

One of the primary focuses of his projects was on education and socialization of children. He had funds raised to build playgrounds, provide supplies for more meaningful learning workshops, and founded a library. This, in turn, offered a brighter future for the community. This is a goal we share today.

While San Franciscanos Unidos in New York dissolved in 2000 due to the health issues of their founder, we wish to continue in their footsteps to raise funds for the community of San Francisco de Yojoa, with the goal of bringing a brighter future to not only their community, but many others also less fortunate in Honduras.
